The keywords with the highest search are the most profitable?
Right?
Well to millions that is true ... however people in the known
generally stay away until it's the right time.
Hundreds and thousands of webmasters are competing for the
highest searched keyword position. Let's take golf for example.
Golf - 620,000 searches a month
At present on Google there are 326,000,000 (B for billion)
phrases listed for this highly competitive search term.
There's ONLY one logical reason why everyone is trying to
compete for this keyword. Go to any keyword search tool and it's
listed at the top... i.e. the highest search term.
Now thousands, eyes closed start trying hard to get ranked for
this keyword, day in day out. However do they know the facts
behind this term?
No, I can bet 99% don't.
Have you ever thought why you don't get many sales when you are
placed at the top of the search engines? I mean it sounds crazy
right? Number 1 listing and the search number doesn't constitute
the sales figures!
Well here's something to open your thinking levels.
When we rank for a competitive term, what happens? It's true
everyone is trying to compete. Everyone also plays with their
pages, revisit Google, type in golf and searches through to see
where they are listed.
Couple of days later you do the exact thing... type the term and
see where you are listed.
You could say you do that at least 5 maybe 20 times in a day.
Now how many people do you think are doing exactly the same?
Now being number one for golf, means more clicks for sure.
However what do people do when they search golf and are looking
for golf tips? They see you listed for golf, click and click
back as they don't see relevant information regarding golf tips.
Ok let's do some maths now...
Let's say out of 100 people typing in golf, 40% are competitors,
30% happy clickers and 30% are 'potential' prospects.
Competitors checking to see where they are ranked, happy
clickers because you happen to be number one and potential
prospects that have an interest in golf!
Now what's 30% of 620,000 searches? 186,000.
See the big number change for 'real' searches?
So don't fall prey of going after the number one search term as
you could possibly waste months and months when only you will
receive a handful number of 'real' customers.
So where are the real customers?
It's not hard to figure out as Google Snatch explains where to
go for people with credit cards waiting in their hands.
